What a day at daycare looks like
Every daycare day follows familiar routines so dogs know what to expect and can settle in easily.
Most days include:
-
A relaxed arrival and settling-in period
-
Supervised social play in well-managed groups
-
Plenty of rest breaks throughout the day
-
Regular check-ins from our team
We keep a close eye on behaviour, energy levels and comfort, and we adjust the day as needed to suit each dog.
This rhythm helps dogs stay relaxed, engaged and comfortable throughout the day.
Morning arrivals
Dogs arrive and are given time to decompress, settle in and adjust before joining group play.
Morning play
Supervised group play indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather and what suits the dogs best.
Midday rest and lunch
Lunches are offered if needed, along with rest time to recharge.
Quiet time and rotations
Rest breaks continue, with groups alternating to keep things calm and well balanced.
Afternoon activities
More group play, enrichment time, or bath and groom sessions for dogs booked in.
Home time
Wind-down time and pick-ups, with dogs heading home happy and ready for a rest.

A calmer way to do dog daycare
We know dog daycare isn’t one-size-fits-all, and it shouldn’t feel overwhelming.
At Common Ground Canine, we take a structured approach that balances play with downtime. Our team is actively involved throughout the day, guiding interactions, watching group dynamics and making sure dogs aren’t pushed past what they’re comfortable with.
Some dogs love a good play session. Others prefer quieter time, shorter bursts of socialising or a nap in between. We make space for all of that.

Daycare evaluation trial day
All new dogs start with a trial day so we can get to know them properly and make sure daycare is the right fit.
-
Gives us time to learn your dog’s personality, play style and energy levels
-
Helps us place them on suitable days with groups that suit them best
-
Allows your dog to meet our team and settle into the space at their own pace
-
Gives you peace of mind that it feels right for both you and your dog
Our goal is to set dogs up for positive, stress-free daycare experiences.

Daycare for overnight guests
All dogs staying overnight with us take part in daycare during the day, alongside our regular daycare dogs.
-
Dogs are not left alone in individual kennels during the day
-
Because of this, all overnight guests must complete a daycare trial first
-
Daycare helps dogs feel comfortable, confident and familiar with us
We also recommend ongoing daycare throughout the year, so overnight stays feel familiar and low-stress, especially around holidays.
Is dog daycare right for your dog?
Our daycare suits dogs who enjoy being around other dogs and people, can settle when given the opportunity, and benefit from a structured environment.
If you’re unsure whether daycare is the right fit, we’re always happy to talk it through with you.
Getting it right for your dog matters more to us than filling places, and we’ll be honest and supportive in helping you decide.

Dog Daycare FAQs
Is daycare right for every dog?
Dog daycare suits dogs who enjoy being around other dogs and people, and can settle with structure and routine. If you're unsure, we're always happy to help you decide.
Do dogs get rest time during the day?
Yes. Our daycare days are structured to balance play with rest. We do not want overstimulated dogs, so dogs are not expected to play constantly (that would be weird and unnatural).
How are daycare groups managed?
Groups are actively supervised and thoughtfully managed based on each dog's personality, play style, and comfort levels. We adjust groups as needed throughout the day.
Why do all dogs need an evaluation trial day?
Trial days help us get to know your dog properly, assess how they interact in our environment, and make sure daycare is a good fit. They also give you and your dog a chance to meet our team and see how we work.
How is daycare priced?
Our daycare pricing is based on the cost off providing safe, well-staffed, and supervised care. This includes appropriate staff-to-dog ratios, experienced team members, and a calm, well-managed environment.
Why is daycare more expensive on weekends and public holidays?
Staffing costs are higher on weekends and public holidays due to penalty rates. Our pricing reflect these increased costs so we can continue providing the same level of care, supervision, and safety every day we're open.
Can I tour the facility and meet the team before booking?
Absolutely! If you'd like to meet us or have a look around first, email us and Adrienne (the owner) will be happy to arrange a suitable time with you.
What should I bring for daycare?
In most cases, you don't need to bring anything. If your dog requires lunch or medication during the day, let us know when you're booking so we can chat you through what's needed.
