Our Public Benevolent Purpose
Common Ground Canine Ltd is a public company limited by guarantee and operates as a non-profit organisation.

We have applied for registration with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) and are seeking endorsement as a Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) and Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).

Our charitable purpose
Common Ground Canine Ltd exists to provide benevolent relief to people experiencing distress, disadvantage or hardship, particularly where the care, safety and wellbeing of a companion animal presents a barrier to stability, recovery or access to support.

Our charitable purpose is set out in our Constitution and guides all of our activities, governance and decision-making.

Our Objects and Activities
In accordance with our Constitution, the objects of Common Ground Canine Ltd include:

Relieving poverty, homelessness and hardship by supporting people who are unable to adequately care for their companion animals due to financial distress, housing insecurity, crisis or disadvantage

Providing subsidised or free dog care services to support people experiencing hardship, where capacity allows

Creating training, mentoring, volunteering and employment pathways in animal care and dog grooming for people facing barriers to employment

Supporting community wellbeing through ethical, humane and accessible animal care
-
Operating as a non-profit entity, with all surplus funds reinvested into furthering the Company’s charitable and benevolent purposes
To achieve its charitable objects, CGC undertakes the following activities:

Providing subsidised or free dog daycare, grooming and short-term care to support people experiencing homelessness, crisis or financial hardship

Working in partnership with support services to help people maintain connection with their companion animals during periods of instability

Delivering structured training, mentoring and employment pathways in dog grooming and animal care
-
Operating dog care services that also function as safe, supervised learning environments
-
Reinvesting all profits generated from commercial activities into the delivery of benevolent programs and charitable outcomes

Who we exist to benefit
Our benevolent activities are directed toward people experiencing:

Support is provided respectfully, without discrimination, and in a way that preserves dignity and autonomy.

Non-profit operation
Common Ground Canine Ltd operates on a not-for-profit basis.

All surplus funds are reinvested into the organisation’s charitable activities

Assets are subject to an asset lock in accordance with the Constitution
Transparency and accountability

We are committed to operating with transparency, accountability and integrity.

Our governance framework, policies and reporting obligations are designed to meet the requirements of the ACNC and other relevant regulatory bodies.

Relationship between services and charitable purpose
Common Ground Canine Ltd operates dog care services as a means of delivering its charitable purpose.

Commercial activities are undertaken solely to support and further the Company’s charitable and benevolent purposes.
​
At all times, the welfare and safety of dogs remains a priority, and charitable activities are delivered in a manner that does not compromise care standards, staff supervision or operational integrity.
